A bit about us!

How We Met
As some of you may know, we met over 8 years ago, in Niagara Falls. Wow, crazy to think of that. Kendra was doing a musical and Jon was staying at his Uncle's house nearby. We both decided to give Bumble a try for the first time, swiped right (duh!) and quickly moved things from witty comments about each other's photos to long phone calls. Even while Jon was visiting Australia, he made sure to wish Kendra 'good luck!' across many time zones, before she went on stage. All of this eventually led to a date at Starbucks off the highway in Niagara. Who knew that would be a setting for romance? Hah!
Kendra brought Jon a bottle of her family's rum to the café which left him speechless, and Jon tossed her his car keys to drive them back to her host's home, which left her speechless as a nervous new driver. (She was thrilled she got them there in one piece!) And there, standing in the driveway, with a pink sunset overhead, sparks flew and a magnetic connection was formed, which neither of them would soon forget. In fact, we never did. When we close our eyes today, we can still so easily feel that moment. We felt we knew each other immediately. It was that 'where have you been all my life?' feeling. It felt like coming home.
A Book with Many Chapters

While the timing wasn't quite right to date when we first met, we always kept one another in our orbit while we had our own adventures. Our shared passion for film, tv and multimedia played a part in that - Jon even hired Kendra for a voice over gig at CTV once, while they were friends!
Fast forward through a pesky knee surgery for Jon and cut to August 2020! We reconnected, started dating and on October 24th, we started goin' steady as the old folks say.
Long story short, we always knew we'd keep each other in our lives...and we sure did! Now almost 4 years of dating later - we're getting married!
Our Engagement!

Jon proposed to Kendra in the most thoughtful and romantic way on Redhead Beach in Nova Scotia on July 4, 2022, a place where she spent her summers growing up, and a spot that became special for both of them over the years. With his drone flying overhead in typical Jon fashion, (see picture on left), he surprised Kendra during what she thought was a typical drone shoot. As she was walking along the rock wall that separates a fresh water lake from the Atlantic ocean - unbeknownst to her, Jon was getting down on one knee! It was obviously a hell YES!! - And as you can see (in the picture on the right) as they embraced and took in the moment together, a breathtaking pink sunset painted the sky. (Just like on their first date! It felt like a sign)

Then, on their drive home along the country roads, they were greeted by a gorgeous display of fireworks over the tree tops (it was July 4th after all). It felt like they were just for them, it was perfect. (And that's one reason we've chosen to include fireworks in our wedding!)

After popping champagne, FaceTiming and calling their family and friends to share their happy news - Jon and Kendra celebrated with a road trip around Cape Breton Island!
Of course, as many of you know, once Jon and Kendra returned home to Toronto, they threw an Engagement Party with friends and family to mark the occasion!
Building a Life Together
​
We now live together in a condo downtown in the Entertainment District, which is ideal for us. One block from the TIFF Bell Light Box and across the street from the Scotiabank Cineplex movie theatre, we can easily catch what's new in theatres on a whim. With a 2 min commute to CTV for Jon and Kendra working from home, our life is pretty comfortable. We loved combining our furniture and making a home together last December! Our aesthetic actually fits well together ha!

On a weeknight you can find us on the couch watching a new show or at the gym, if we're not wedding planning! lol. On the weekends, you may find us hanging with friends or shooting a short film together! We just shot our first one this Fall!

We can't wait to continue building our beautiful life together! And thanks to all of you who are part of it :)
